About
I build fast, resilient websites and tools that work for real people, in the real world. Whether I'm optimizing web performance, writing clean code, or creating art, I bring a fearless, thoughtful approach to everything I do.

My Backstory
I’ve spent the past decade helping businesses grow by making their websites faster, smarter, and more effective. With a background in engineering (Texas A&M) and business strategy (Harvard Business School), I bridge the gap between code and outcomes—translating technical performance into real business value.
At Shopify, I built and launched Liquid features that improved loading speed for more than 5% of Shopify stores and optimized the Dawn theme which improved Core Web Vitals for 90,000+ stores, accounting for 17% of all Shopify sites. I also developed and maintained performance.shopify.com, a key resource for theme developers focused on Core Web Vitals.
Beyond Shopify, I've helped brands achieve dramatic results:
- 44% improvement in mobile LCP and 50% better CLS for one major client, and 25% improvement in mobile LCP for another
- Up to 70% performance gains reported by workshop attendees
- Performance audits and full-stack builds that drove conversions and improve user experience across the board
Whether I'm building custom tools, optimizing existing platforms, or teaching teams how to improve their site speed, my goal is the same: to deliver clean, strategic, high-performance work that moves the needle.

How I work
- I speak up early, fix things fast, and don't leave loose ends.
- I translate complexity into clarity—for clients, teams, and end users.
- I balance creative freedom with clean, strategic execution.
- I work independently, communicate honestly, and deliver results that last.
Support my community work
In addition to freelance development, I'm deeply committed to supporting the tech and arts communities through open knowledge sharing, event organizing, and performance tooling. This includes writing blog posts and newsletters, giving talks, maintaining resources like Theme Vitals and Priorities Scanner, and organizing meetups like PerformanceObserver and The 11ty Meetup — all offered freely to the community.
Because I'm an independent freelancer, this work isn't funded, but it matters. If you've benefited from these resources or want to help sustain this work, consider becoming a sponsor.
Monthly sponsorships are especially appreciated, but one-time contributions are also welcome. Choose your preferred platform:
